Working with my wife Andrea Benner Disbro we designed and created porcelain dolls - the models, the molds, did all the ceramic processes and then fabricated all the costumes. Albert's Dream was four pieces that were grouped as one exhibit. The idea was to explore the relationship between a doll and a piece of sculpture. When does a "doll" become a piece of "sculpture"? The environment was constructed for each of these dolls - they became limited to a specific content, whereas, if they had remained unattached they could be unbound but then, only a "doll"?
